Tragic Matricide: Son Kills Mother Over Domestic Dispute in Odisha

Shocking Incident in Bishnupur Village

Pattamundai: A tragic event unfolded in Bishnupur village, located within the jurisdiction of Oupada panchayat and Pattamundai rural police, where a young man allegedly killed his 70-year-old mother after she intervened in a domestic dispute involving his wife.

The suspect, identified as Manoj Malik, reportedly assaulted his wife, Sasmita, during a heated argument late on Monday night. When his mother, Shantilata Malik, stepped in to stop the violence, Manoj turned on her and attacked her viciously, resulting in her immediate death.

Villagers managed to apprehend Manoj as he attempted to escape and promptly alerted the authorities. A police team from Pattamundai Rural, led by IIC Dhiraj Lenka, responded quickly and took him into custody. Authorities have filed a case (270/25) under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and initiated an investigation.

Reports indicate that Manoj had been married for just three months and had subjected both his wife and family to ongoing physical and emotional abuse.

The community is in shock, with many residents expressing outrage and calling for severe punishment for Manoj. This horrific act of matricide has left the local population deeply unsettled.
