Tragic Loss: Two Aspirants Die During Home Guard Physical Test in Odisha

Devastating Incident During Recruitment in Gajapati
Paralakhemundi: A tragic event unfolded during the Home Guard recruitment in Gajapati district, Odisha, where two candidates tragically passed away while participating in a physical fitness assessment on Thursday, as reported by sources.
The individuals who lost their lives have been named as Deepak Padal from Narayanpur village in the Rayagada block and Sulant Mishal from Parisala village, located under the jurisdiction of Ramagiri police.
Reports indicate that Deepak collapsed while running during the fitness test and was immediately taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his condition despite medical intervention.
Earlier that same morning, Sulant Mishal also collapsed during the running segment, which spanned a two-kilometre stretch between Ranipentha and Padmapur in Paralakhemundi. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the District Headquarters Hospital in Paralakhemundi, according to the source.
In addition, seven other candidates reportedly suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical care.
In response to this heartbreaking incident, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has declared an ex gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased candidates.
It is important to note that the physical fitness test, an essential part of the Home Guard recruitment process, commenced on Thursday morning under challenging humid weather conditions.
