Tragic Loss: SSB Jawan's Wife Passes Away After Complications Following Childbirth

Heartbreaking News from Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident has occurred as the wife of an SSB jawan passed away due to complications following childbirth. She was receiving treatment after giving birth to their child.

The couple's newborn daughter, just 15 days old, is currently with her extended family in Jharsuguda district, Odisha, while efforts are underway to bring her father back from his duty at the India-Bhutan border in Arunachal Pradesh.

Odisha's Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, expressed his condolences, stating, "We are making all necessary arrangements for the jawan to return and attend his wife's funeral."

The deceased, identified as Lipi Gand, aged 28, was married to Debraj Gand, an SSB jawan from Tengnamal village in the Lakhanpur block of Jharsuguda.

Family members revealed that although Debraj was present for the birth of their daughter, he had to leave for duty just a day later after receiving a call from the SSB.

Lipi passed away on Monday night at VIMSAR, Burla, after her condition deteriorated following the delivery on April 28. Doctors reported that she suffered from multi-organ failure after being unconscious for 15 days.

The minister mentioned that arrangements were made to transfer Lipi to Bhubaneswar via air ambulance, but unfortunately, she succumbed before the transfer could take place.

"We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the jawan and his family," the minister added.

Pujari confirmed that Debraj has been notified and is on his way back to Odisha, stating, "He will travel to Guwahati from Arunachal Pradesh, then take a flight to Kolkata before arriving in Jharsuguda. We anticipate his arrival by 7 PM today."
