Patna, April 22: A heartbreaking event occurred on Wednesday morning in Khairpur Kadwa, located within the Naugachhia police jurisdiction of Bihar, where three laborers tragically lost their lives, likely due to exposure to toxic gases while cleaning a septic tank.


Details of the Incident

The incident took place around 8:30 A.M. in Purva Tola, Ward No. 3, at the home of Jwala Yadav. An official report indicated that the workers entered the septic tank during construction activities and were soon overwhelmed by harmful gases.


One by one, all three individuals collapsed inside the tank. A fourth person noticed the lack of response from the workers and quickly raised the alarm, prompting immediate action from the villagers.


In a frantic rescue effort, locals broke through a section of the wall to extract the men and rushed them to the Naugachhia Sub-Divisional Hospital. Unfortunately, medical personnel pronounced all three dead upon arrival.


Victims Identified

The deceased have been named as Bam-Bam Mandal, Jaynandan Mandal, and Shrilal Mandal, all hailing from Lachhminia village in the Kadwa police area.


Police teams from both Kadwa and Naugachhia arrived promptly after being notified and began an investigation into the incident.


The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kadwa police station reported that the workers had entered the tank around 8:00 A.M. and ceased communication shortly thereafter, raising concerns among those outside.


Community Response and Investigation

Authorities confirmed that the victims were extracted shortly after the police were alerted and taken to the hospital, where they were declared deceased. “Post-mortem examinations have been conducted, and the bodies have been returned to their families,” stated the SHO.


This tragic incident has sparked significant grief and anger within the local community, with many villagers gathering at the hospital to mourn the loss. The families of the deceased are in profound shock over the sudden tragedy.
