Funeral of Prisa Sah in Puri

Bhubaneswar: The funeral services for 18-year-old Prisa Sah, a student from Nepal who tragically passed away at KIIT, took place at Swargadwar in Puri on Saturday, attended by her family. Following tradition, her father, Shyam Pd Sah, performed the last rites at the crematorium in this sacred town.

Present at the ceremony were Prisa's mother, Pinky Sah, along with other family members, representatives from the Akhil Bharatiya Nepali Ekta Samaj Committee, officials from the Nepal Embassy, and local district authorities.

In a heart-wrenching moment, her father expressed his anguish, stating, "We need to know how and why our daughter died." He revealed that Prisa had spoken to her mother at 3 PM on Thursday, sounding cheerful, and they received news of her passing later that evening at 8 PM.

Authorities reported that the body of the B.Tech computer science student was found in her hostel room at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) on Thursday night.

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Prakash Chandra Pal, a post-mortem was carried out at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar by a team of three doctors, overseen by an executive magistrate, with the consent of Prisa's parents. The entire procedure was documented on video as per standard protocols.

Investigators have recorded statements from approximately ten individuals, including friends and hostel staff, and have filed a case of unnatural death at the Infocity police station. They also plan to analyze the contents of her laptop and mobile phone.

The Nepalese government has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. This tragedy follows another incident involving a Nepalese student at KIIT earlier this year, which sparked significant protests.
