Heartbreaking Incident in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A tragic incident occurred on June 20 when a 19-year-old NEET aspirant took her own life just a day prior to the re-examination of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG), as reported by local authorities.

The victim, identified as Sheikh Sana, was found deceased at her home within the Miyapur Police Station jurisdiction. She had been living with her two sisters while preparing for the exam.

Her father, Sheikh Jafar Hussain, is employed in Kuwait, and her mother had recently traveled to Proddatur in Andhra Pradesh about ten days before the incident.

Authorities suspect that the pressures of academic performance, familial expectations, and anxiety over previous failures may have contributed to her tragic decision. Reports indicate that she left a note in English absolving others of responsibility for her death.

Initial investigations revealed that Sana had previously attempted the exam but was unsuccessful. Following this, she enrolled in a long-term coaching program and had recently taken the test last month.

She was gearing up for the re-examination scheduled for June 21.

Sana lived with her younger sisters, while their aunt resided in a nearby apartment.

After breakfast on Saturday, Sana retreated to her room. Her sisters assumed she was studying for the upcoming exam. However, when she did not emerge by evening, they opened the door to find her hanging. They promptly contacted the authorities.

The police transported her body to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem and initiated an investigation.

Sana's sisters are currently in Classes X and VI, and their aunt is taking care of them.

This incident marks a concerning trend, as there has been a rise in suicides among NEET aspirants following the cancellation of the May 3 exam due to allegations of a question paper leak.

Sana is reported to be the first NEET aspirant from Telangana to die by suicide.
