Former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy Dies After Cardiac Arrest

Hyderabad: Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former MLA, has sadly passed away at the age of 52 in a private hospital. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.

Reddy was hospitalized following a cardiac arrest he suffered on July 26.

The former MLA from Narasmpet experienced a critical health crisis at his home in Hanamkonda. After receiving initial emergency care at a local facility, he was transferred to Hyderabad, where he remained on ventilator support.

Medical professionals reported that he experienced cardiac arrest due to a pulmonary embolism. Although he was revived after about 45 minutes of CPR, his condition deteriorated due to a lack of neurological response.

Further medical assessments revealed significant brain damage resulting from extended oxygen deprivation. He passed away in the early hours of Friday.

Originating from Warangal district, Sudarshan Reddy was an active participant in the movement advocating for Telangana's statehood. He was elected to the Telangana Assembly from the Narsampet constituency in 2018.

From 2018 to 2023, he held the position of Chairman of the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation and was a member of the Legislative Assembly's Public Accounts Committee.

Born on August 6, 1974, into an agricultural family, he began his political journey with the Youth Congress and later joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) when it was established by K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) in 2001.

Sudarshan Reddy was elected as a member of the Zilla Parishad Territorial Committee (ZPTC) from Nallabelli Mandal and served as the Zilla Parishad Floor Leader. He also held the position of party president for the undivided Warangal district and was a member of the state Politburo, playing a crucial role in the Telangana movement through active participation in public meetings and large rallies in Warangal.

He was closely associated with KCR's family and was recognized for his unwavering commitment to fulfilling any responsibilities assigned to him by the party.

Although he contested the 2014 Assembly elections from Narsampet as a TRS candidate without success, he triumphed in his second attempt in 2018.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over Sudarshan Reddy's passing, highlighting the unforgettable contributions he made to the Telangana movement.

The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to Sudarshan Reddy's family and supporters.

BRS president and former Chief Minister KCR also expressed profound sadness over the loss, describing it as an irreparable blow to Telangana. He noted that he had lost a close friend and a trusted ally in the Telangana movement.

BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao shared his shock and sadness at Sudarshan Reddy's passing, stating that they had hoped for his recovery during his hospital treatment, making the news of his death particularly heartbreaking.
