Lightning Tragedy in Bhadrak District


Bhadrak: In a heartbreaking incident, two brothers tragically lost their lives due to a lightning strike while they were working in their agricultural field in Bhadrak district on Monday, according to local police reports.


The victims have been identified as Madan Maharana, aged 60, and his 57-year-old brother, Hurdananda Maharana, both residents of Chandasahi village within the jurisdiction of Tihidi police.


Despite being rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Tihidi, medical personnel pronounced both brothers dead upon their arrival.


In a related incident, another farmer named Giridhari Mohalika, aged 64, from Charibatia village, sustained burn injuries from a lightning strike. He received initial treatment at Tihidi CHC but was later transferred to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital as his condition worsened, as reported by the police.


The Tihidi police have filed two cases of unnatural death (UD), and the bodies have been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examinations.
