Tragic Library Shooting in Northern California Claims Two Lives

In a tragic event at a library in northern California, authorities have confirmed the identity of one of the two victims killed in the shooting. Local officials have praised the library staff for their quick actions in safeguarding children and other visitors during the crisis. The deceased has been identified as Jacob Hull, a 46-year-old resident of Chico. The second victim, a 74-year-old man, remains unnamed. Additionally, a child sustained injuries during the incident.
The shooting occurred on Monday evening at the Butte County Library. Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey expressed gratitude towards the library employees, highlighting their efforts to usher individuals to safety amidst the chaos. The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Bradley Scott Sayer, who is believed to have acted independently. Ramsey indicated that investigators suspect Sayer had intentions reminiscent of the Columbine High School massacre. Reports suggest that Sayer had recently graduated from Chico High School prior to the shooting.
Law enforcement received reports of an active shooter at the library shortly after 5 PM local time. Officers responding to the scene reported hearing screams and gunfire during emergency calls. The attack resulted in two fatalities and injuries to a child. Sayer has been charged with two counts of murder and is currently held at the Butte County Jail.
