Tragic Land Dispute Claims Life of Teacher in Himachal Pradesh
Violent Clash in Kinnaur District
Shimla: A tragic incident unfolded in the secluded Rarang village, located under the Moorang police station in Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh, where a land dispute escalated into violence, resulting in the death of a government school teacher.
Authorities have identified the victim as Krishan Lal Negi, who taught at the Government Primary School in Akpa. The confrontation occurred as Krishan Lal and his wife, Chunni Devi, were heading home after tending to their fields.
Chunni Devi reported that they were confronted by a group of villagers, including Dawa Gyalchan, Sem Kali, their sons Suman Singh and Praveen, along with their daughter Poonam and daughter-in-law, armed with sticks, sickles, rods, and stones.
Victim Dies After Hospitalization
The group allegedly initiated an unprovoked assault, injuring Krishan Lal and his two brothers, Kumanand and Dundup Gyatso. A local resident intervened to separate the fighting parties, after which the attackers fled the scene.
All three injured individuals were taken to the Regional Hospital in Reckong Peo. Due to Krishan Lal's severe injuries, he was transferred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, where he succumbed to his injuries around 3 PM the same day. His brothers are currently receiving treatment.
Investigation and Legal Action
A family member described Krishan Lal as a well-respected teacher in the community, known for his dedication. Both families involved in the altercation have filed cross-FIRs. Law enforcement is actively investigating the incident and is working to apprehend the suspects who remain at large.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered under multiple charges, including murder and rioting, with ongoing efforts to ensure justice is served.
