Tragic Incident: Young Man Loses Life After Lying in Front of Truck on National Highway

Fatal Accident on National Highway 16

Gopalpur: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a 26-year-old man was fatally struck by a truck on National Highway 16, close to the Gopalpur overbridge in Ganjam district, according to local authorities.

The deceased has been identified as S Papeya, a resident of Digipur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Gopalpur police.

Witnesses reported that Papeya had left his home on his motorcycle, claiming he was going to Berhampur for some errands.

After he parked his motorcycle near the overbridge, he unexpectedly lay down in the path of an oncoming truck.

The truck ran over him, resulting in severe injuries that led to his death almost instantly due to significant blood loss. Authorities from Gopalpur police arrived at the scene and transported the body to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for an autopsy.

Subsequently, the remains were returned to his family.
