Tragic Incident: Trainee Policewoman Commits Suicide in Kannauj

Incident Overview
In a heartbreaking event on Friday, a trainee policewoman in Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly took her own life in the barracks. Authorities confirmed the incident on the same day.
Upon receiving the news, officials promptly arrived at the scene and retrieved the body from the noose.
Official Response
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Kanpur range, Harishchandra, also visited Kannauj to gather details about the situation. The deceased, identified as Ranu Jadaun, was a 23-year-old resident of Etah district.
It was noted that Ranu had joined the police force earlier this year and was undergoing training at the Kannauj police line.
Circumstances of the Incident
According to Vinod Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Kannauj, Ranu allegedly hanged herself in the women's designated hostel restroom around 2 PM.
She was immediately transported to the district hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical staff. Several items were found at the scene, which the police are currently investigating.
Investigation and Allegations
The SP indicated that the preliminary assessment suggests the suicide may have stemmed from personal issues. Late Friday night, the Station House Officer (SHO) Jitendra Pratap Singh reported that Ranu's father, Shyamveer Singh, filed a written complaint alleging that a local man named Devesh, also known as Debu, had been harassing his daughter.
The SHO referenced the complaint, stating that this individual pressured Ranu to quit her job, causing her distress, which may have led to her tragic decision.
Ongoing Investigation
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and further actions are underway. The police also confirmed that after conducting a post-mortem examination, Ranu's body has been handed over to her family.
