Tragic Incident: Three Sisters Take Their Lives Over Online Gaming Addiction

Heartbreaking Event in Ghaziabad

In a tragic incident in Ghaziabad, three young sisters reportedly ended their lives by jumping from the ninth floor of their apartment building. The police discovered a suicide note indicating that the girls felt they could not live without their online Korean games, a fact their father was unaware of.

The event took place around 2 a.m. at Bharat City Society. Initial reports suggest that the sisters, aged 16, 14, and 12, jumped simultaneously. The precise motive behind their drastic action remains unclear, and authorities are currently investigating the situation.

Chetan Kumar, their father, expressed his devastation upon finding the note left by his daughters. The note contained a message directed at him, stating, "Sorry, Papa...we cannot leave Korea. Korea is our life, and you can't make us leave it. That's why we are committing suicide."

Kumar mentioned that he was unaware of the games his daughters were engaged in and whether these games had compelled them to undertake any dangerous tasks.

"What happened is truly unfortunate. I urge parents to monitor their children's gaming activities. We often don't realize the potential risks involved... If they had communicated the nature of the tasks they were facing, perhaps this tragedy could have been avoided. We had no idea about the games they were playing. Had we known, we would have prohibited them from participating," he stated.

According to ACP Atul Kumar, the police received information around 2:15 a.m. regarding the incident. The sisters, identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12), were pronounced dead at Loni Hospital after their fall from the ninth floor.

This incident has reignited discussions about the impact of online content and gaming on minors. A similar case occurred last year in the UK, where a 12-year-old boy tragically died while attempting to mimic a hanging scene from the Netflix series Squid Game. Sebastian Cizman was found deceased at his home during a family gathering.

An inquest revealed that Sebastian, known for his playful nature, had been playing outside with cousins before claiming he was tired and going inside. It is believed he was trying a perilous online challenge linked to choking oneself until unconsciousness, a trend associated with numerous child fatalities globally.

In another alarming case from August 2025, a Class 10 student in Telangana took his own life after his parents confiscated his phone due to his addiction to the popular online game 'PUBG'.
