Retired Teacher Loses Life in Forest Fire

A 68-year-old man tragically lost his life while attempting to control a forest fire in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. This unfortunate event was reported by officials on Wednesday.

According to the authorities, Abdul Aziz, a retired government teacher from the Panda Khetar village in the Dalayote Panchayat, voluntarily joined a team of forest officials on Tuesday to help extinguish the blaze in the Garan forest of the Kalakot sub-division.

By late evening, the fire had largely been brought under control. However, Aziz ventured deeper into the forest to assess the situation. Unfortunately, strong winds reignited the flames, and he was caught in the blaze.

Despite extensive rescue efforts, he could not be saved and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officials later recovered his charred remains and handed them over to his family for the final rites after completing the necessary legal formalities.
