Police Inspector's Fatal Incident in Jalaun

A police inspector in Jalaun district reportedly shot himself with his service revolver, leading to his death. Authorities confirmed that he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.


According to Superintendent of Police Durgesh Kumar, the incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Friday at the inspector's residence within the Kuthound police station premises. Inspector Arun Kumar Rai allegedly shot himself, resulting in severe injuries.


Upon hearing the gunshot, fellow officers and staff rushed to the inspector's home, where they found him lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken to the local health center, but due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to the Medical College in Urai.


As per the Superintendent of Police, the inspector passed away around 11:30 PM during treatment at the medical facility. Initial assessments suggest that the case may be a suicide, although the exact cause of death will be determined after a thorough investigation.


Arun Kumar Rai hailed from Sant Kabir Nagar district, and his family has been informed of his passing. He had been promoted to the rank of inspector in 2023. Following the incident, District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey, along with Superintendent Durgesh Kumar and Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Verma, visited the Medical College.
