Investigation Underway After Two Men Found Dead in Truck

In a tragic event in Ramnagar, Nainital district of Uttarakhand, two individuals were discovered deceased inside a dumper truck, with initial reports suggesting they may have died from asphyxiation. Authorities have confirmed the details.

According to police, the victims lit a 'Petromax lantern' (kerosene lamp) to shield themselves from the severe cold and subsequently fell asleep, which likely led to the unfortunate incident.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Ikraar, both hailing from Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh, and they are reported to be uncle and nephew. Police indicated that both were truck drivers who had arrived at a stone crusher in Pirumadara village, Ramnagar, to load some mineral materials on Saturday night.

They loaded the truck with materials at around 5 AM on Sunday and parked it outside. To escape the biting cold, they entered the truck's cabin, lit the lantern for warmth, and closed the windows before falling asleep.

Later, other workers at the site called out to them, and upon receiving no response, they broke the windows of the truck's cabin to find them unconscious inside. They were rushed to the government hospital in Ramnagar, where doctors pronounced them dead.

Dr. Kritika from the hospital stated that preliminary examinations suggest asphyxiation as the cause of death, but the exact reason will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is available. Police arrived at the scene following the report and have initiated an investigation, with the bodies sent for autopsy.
