Bangkok, May 12: A tragic event unfolded in Phuket, Thailand, where one Indian tourist lost his life and three others were hospitalized after reportedly losing consciousness. The Indian Embassy in Thailand confirmed the incident on Tuesday, stating they are actively coordinating with local authorities.


Details of the Incident

The embassy reported that they are in communication with Thai officials who are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident that took place on May 9.


In a statement shared on X, the Indian Embassy mentioned, "We are in contact with Thai authorities and are closely monitoring the situation involving four Indian tourists who fell unconscious in Phuket on May 9, 2026, and were subsequently hospitalized for medical care."


They expressed their heartfelt condolences for the loss of one young Indian tourist and assured that embassy officials are supporting the family during this difficult time. They are also maintaining communication with Thai authorities regarding the ongoing investigation and the health status of the other tourists.


Investigation and Health Updates

Local police confirmed the death of a 26-year-old Indian tourist and reported that three others were hospitalized after collapsing at a cafe in Phuket. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the incident.


According to local officials, the event occurred in the Kamala Beach area of the Kathu district. Emergency responders arrived promptly after the tourists lost consciousness at the cafe. Three individuals were transported to Patong Hospital, while another was taken to Thalang Hospital, as reported by Bangkok Post.


Security personnel at the cafe informed investigators that five Indian men had entered the establishment together around 11 PM on Friday. The group included Kushagra Agarwal, Rahul Agrawal, another individual also named Rahul Agrawal, Aman Agarwal, and Aryan Verma.


Reports indicate that four members of the group collapsed one after another without any apparent reason. Cafe staff quickly contacted emergency services, and the men were rushed to the hospital for treatment.


Patong Hospital later reported that two of the men were in a coma and required further treatment at Vachira Phuket Hospital. The individuals were identified as Kushagra Agarwal and one of the Rahul Agrawals. On Saturday, authorities were informed that Kushagra Agarwal had passed away, while the other three patients were reported to be in stable condition.
