In a heartbreaking incident in Nagpur district, a 28-year-old woman reportedly took her own life by jumping into a canal along with her five-year-old son. This tragic event occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Patgawari village, located 60 kilometers from the district headquarters.

Family members of the woman revealed that she felt compelled to take this drastic step due to her inability to repay a loan obtained from a women's self-help group. According to a police official, the woman allegedly tied her son with her dupatta before leaping into the fast-flowing Pench canal.

Witnesses alerted the authorities, prompting a rescue team to initiate a search operation. However, the swift current hampered their efforts. The police reported that the bodies were recovered from the canal late Tuesday night. An investigation is currently underway, with authorities looking into the possibility of harassment during the loan recovery process.
