Mother Arrested for Alleged Infanticide in Govandi

In a heartbreaking incident in the Govandi area of Maharashtra, a 43-year-old woman has reportedly taken the life of her six-month-old son. According to police officials, the woman was struggling with financial difficulties and both she and her child tested positive for HIV.


The situation escalated on Thursday evening when the woman had a dispute with a colleague at her textile factory, during which she allegedly attempted to stab her coworker.


A police spokesperson stated, "Upon receiving reports of the altercation, our team quickly arrived at the scene. During questioning, the woman confessed to murdering her six-month-old son, citing her inability to provide for him financially. She revealed that both she and her son were HIV positive."


The official further explained, "The woman admitted to suffocating her son with a pillow while he was asleep in his crib. When officers arrived at her residence, they found the child unresponsive in the crib. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead." The police have since filed a murder case against the mother.
