Tragic Incident in Fatehpur: Factory Wall Collapse Claims One Life
Fatal Collapse During Drainage Work
On Tuesday, in the Soura area of the Malwan police station jurisdiction in Fatehpur district, a tragic incident occurred when a dilapidated wall of a factory collapsed while workers were excavating a drainage channel. This unfortunate event resulted in five laborers being trapped under the debris, with one confirmed dead, according to police reports.
Rajkishore, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Malwan, stated that the excavation work was being carried out using a JCB machine in the Soura industrial zone for drainage purposes.
During this operation, the crumbling wall of the abandoned Sharda Steel Factory gave way, burying five workers beneath it. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra, a 45-year-old laborer from Lakhimpur Kheri. Meanwhile, four others—Kallu (18), Sandeep (32), Kunnu (28), and Kuldeep (18) from Sitapur district—are currently receiving treatment at a government hospital.
Authorities have indicated that the excavation and construction work was contracted to a construction company based in Lucknow.
