Tragic Incident in Bhubaneswar: Liquor Shop Sealed After Two Deaths Linked to Alcohol Consumption

Government Action Following Allegations
Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, authorities in Odisha took decisive action by sealing a liquor store in the city after reports surfaced that two individuals had died following the consumption of alcohol purchased from the establishment, according to an official statement.
Following complaints from residents in the Laxmisagar locality, a team of excise officials visited the liquor shop situated near the station bazaar, where they collected samples and proceeded to seal the premises.
Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Raj Sekhar Swain, stated, "We have received reports of several individuals being hospitalized after consuming liquor from this shop. We have gathered samples for testing and have sealed the location."
Local residents reported that a group of young people had purchased liquor from the shop for a gathering, after which four to five individuals fell seriously ill and required hospitalization, with two tragically passing away.
However, the cause of death—whether due to illicit liquor, food poisoning, or another factor—will be determined following post-mortem examinations and further investigations, as noted by another excise official.
