In a heartbreaking incident in the Rasra area of Ballia district, a young couple reportedly ingested a toxic substance while engaged in a video call, leading to the death of a 20-year-old woman. Authorities confirmed the details on Monday.
According to police reports, Priya Pathak (20) and Chintaman Chauhan (24) consumed the poison around 2 AM on Sunday while communicating via video call from their village, Badki Bauali. Tragically, Priya lost her life due to the poisoning, while Chintaman was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
Background of the Couple
Priya and Chintaman were neighbors and had been in a romantic relationship for several years. However, their families were opposed to their union, and Priya was scheduled to be engaged to someone else on May 22.
SHO Awadhesh Kumar Awasthi stated that a case has been filed against Chintaman Chauhan based on a complaint from Priya's mother, Reena Pathak. The charges include sections 108, 123, and 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code.
Legal Proceedings
The FIR alleges that Chintaman manipulated Priya into a vulnerable position, leading to her physical exploitation and ultimately forcing her to consume poison during their video call. The police are currently investigating the matter further.
