Fatal Accident in Amethi District

In a tragic event early Wednesday morning in Amethi district, a 34-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by an out-of-control police vehicle, according to local authorities. The incident occurred near the village of Chetara in the Mohanganj police jurisdiction.


As per police reports, Anjum Bano, a resident of Chetara, had stepped outside around 4 AM for a bathroom break and was seated by the roadside when a speeding police vehicle veered off course, hitting her before overturning into a ditch.


Family members rushed her to the referral hospital in Tiloi, where she was pronounced dead by medical staff. Rakesh Kumar, the officer in charge of Mohanganj police station, confirmed that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and that legal proceedings are underway. Notably, Amethi district has been declared open defecation free (ODF) under the 'Swachh Bharat Mission', with claims that every household has access to a toilet.
