While acknowledging that some of the arrested individuals were students from the college, she emphasized that the assault did not happen on campus.
Background on Amudhan
Amudhan, aged 19, faced suspension in July after an internal investigation revealed he had assaulted canteen staff. His parents were called to the college, and he was sent home with them. They were instructed to return on August 11 for further discussions.
On August 10, Amudhan was reportedly attacked near Malumichampatti and experienced breathing issues upon returning to his room. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved.

The Coimbatore district police revealed that the case emerged during inquiries into a previous incident at a residence in Poonga Nagar, Othakkalmandapam, where a group allegedly assaulted another student, Ilavarasan, and stole a mobile phone.
Following a complaint, Chettipalayam police initiated an investigation and discovered Amudhan's involvement. Subsequently, a group confronted Amudhan and his friend Sriman near Malumichampatti, leading to their assault behind the college.
Based on Sriman's complaint, police have filed a murder case. The arrested individuals include Arumugam (20), Aravind (21), Siva Rohit (20), Mani Balu (20), Santhosh (20), and a 17-year-old from Tiruvallur district. The identity of the minor has been kept confidential as per legal requirements.
