Patna, June 2: A tragic incident occurred in Patna's Secretariat Colony area where a 17-year-old girl, preparing for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in her hostel room. The student hailed from Samastipur district in Bihar and had been residing at the Radhe Krishna Hostel since 2024.

According to Abha Singh, the hostel warden, the girl had her dinner as usual on Monday night before heading to her room. There were no indications in her demeanor that she might take such a drastic action.

Described as a quiet and reserved individual, she had recently returned to Patna after a brief visit to her village following a study module.

Initial investigations revealed that she had an emotional phone call with a friend shortly before the incident. During the conversation, she was reportedly in tears, and her friend urged her to avoid any harmful actions and suggested returning home to her parents.

However, the student allegedly mentioned that even her parents were not communicating with her.

Other residents of the hostel informed investigators that she had shown signs of distress in the days leading up to the incident, raising concerns about her emotional well-being.

Upon receiving news of the incident on Tuesday morning, police promptly arrived at the hostel and initiated a thorough investigation. The police have not located any suicide note in her room, and her mobile phone has been confiscated for further examination. A forensic team has also been called to gather evidence from the scene.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and her family has been notified. An official stated, “The precise cause and circumstances surrounding her death will be clarified following the forensic analysis and post-mortem report.”
