Tragic Incident at Odisha Old-Age Home: Inmate Found Dead in Apparent Suicide

In a heartbreaking incident, a 70-year-old resident of an old-age facility in Apartipur village, located in the Balimeda panchayat of Bhadrak district, was discovered dead late Monday night. The individual, identified as Sagar Das, reportedly took his own life by hanging himself with a napkin in the washroom of the home.

Sagar Das had been living in the old-age home for several months, but the reasons behind his tragic decision remain unclear. The facility houses over 50 residents, and upon learning of the incident, the management promptly notified both the family of the deceased and the Nayikanidihi police.

Authorities arrived at the scene, initiated an investigation, and arranged for the body to undergo a post-mortem examination. Family members of Das have since arrived at the hospital, calling for a comprehensive inquiry into the factors that may have led him to this desperate act.
