Oxygen Supply Malfunction Leads to Patient Deaths

On Sunday evening, three patients lost their lives at the trauma center of Jalandhar Civil Hospital due to a technical malfunction in the oxygen supply system. However, hospital officials have denied these claims, stating that there was only a slight dip in oxygen supply, which was quickly rectified with backup oxygen cylinders.

Raj Kumar, the medical superintendent of the hospital, announced that a nine-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident and will submit a report within two days. Among the deceased, one patient was admitted due to a snake bite, another due to severe substance abuse, and the third was suffering from tuberculosis. All three were on ventilators.

During a press interaction, Senior Medical Officer Vinay Anand explained that the oxygen pressure had slightly decreased due to the technical issue. He assured that there were sufficient backup oxygen cylinders that were activated promptly. Additionally, the main oxygen plant's technical fault was also resolved during the same period.

In response to the families of the deceased blaming the deaths on poor oxygen supply, Anand stated that this assertion is incorrect. When questioned about the causes of death, the SMO mentioned that the reasons have been documented in the patients' files by the attending doctors.
