Tragic Incident at Bengaluru Metro Station Disrupts Services
Suicide at Kengeri Metro Station
A man reportedly took his own life by jumping in front of a train at the Kengeri Metro Station in Bengaluru, leading to a temporary disruption of services on the Purple Line. This incident was confirmed by officials on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Shantagouda Policepatil. Eyewitnesses reported that he timed his jump perfectly to collide with the train, resulting in his immediate death.
Authorities, along with a paramedical team, promptly removed the body from the tracks. Following this tragic event, services on the Purple Line were temporarily suspended from Mysore Road to Challaghatta.
Officials later announced that services had resumed. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) posted on X, stating, 'By 9:40 AM, services between Gyan Bharati and Challaghatta have been fully restored. Train operations on the entire Purple Line are now running according to the regular schedule.' The Kengeri police are currently investigating the matter.
