In a heartbreaking incident in Faridabad, Haryana, the lifeless body of a 14-year-old girl was discovered hanging in her home, as reported by local authorities on Friday. Her family claims that she was distressed due to poor performance in school examinations and alleged harassment by teachers.
Victim's Background
The deceased was the daughter of a female assistant sub-inspector (ASI) with the Haryana police and was a 10th-grade student at a private school in the area. According to police reports, she reportedly took her own life in her room after returning from school on Thursday.
Academic Struggles and Pressure
Following a post-mortem examination, the body was returned to the family. They revealed that the girl had failed in three out of five subjects in her recent quarterly exams, which contributed to her distress.
Allegations of Harassment
The victim's mother, who serves as an ASI at the Palla police station, alleged that the school principal and a mathematics teacher threatened to demote her daughter to the ninth grade, severely impacting her mental health. Additionally, despite representing at the national level, she was not allowed to participate in the under-19 category of a kho-kho tournament.
School Administration's Pressure
According to the family, the school administration pressured her to play for the under-14 team, which further exacerbated her anxiety. The victim's mother stated that her daughter had previously complained about being bullied and threatened at school.
