IED Explosion in Chumukedima District

A tragic incident unfolded in Chumukedima district of Nagaland on Monday, where a suspected IED explosion resulted in the death of a soldier from the Assam Rifles. The blast also left four other security personnel injured, bringing the total number of casualties to five. Military officials have confirmed the incident and provided detailed information.


According to Colonel Amit Shukla, a spokesperson for the armed forces, the attack occurred around 2 PM. At that time, Assam Rifles personnel were traveling in a small truck on a mission when the powerful explosion took place, leading to the death of Havildar Mohammad Iqbal from the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School.


The intensity of the blast was so severe that a nearby auto-rickshaw was completely destroyed, and a civilian was also injured in the incident. The four injured Assam Rifles soldiers sustained serious injuries and were promptly admitted to a nearby hospital. Security forces have cordoned off the area surrounding the blast site.


Immediately following the explosion, security forces initiated a comprehensive investigation and secured the entire area. However, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack as of now. Nagaland's Governor Nand Kishor Yadav and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio have strongly condemned this cowardly act and expressed their condolences to the victims.
