Helicopter Accident in Uttarakhand

Dehradun, June 15: A tragic helicopter accident occurred near the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand early on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of all seven individuals on board.

According to Nandan Singh Rajwar, the District Disaster Management Officer of Rudraprayag, the crash happened over the forests of Gaurikund, where visibility was severely limited due to adverse weather conditions.

The victims included six pilgrims and the helicopter's pilot. The aircraft had departed from Kedarnath en route to Guptkashi around 5:30 am before it went down shortly thereafter.

Reports indicate that the helicopter, operated by Aryan Aviation Pvt Ltd, crashed between Gaurikund and Trijuginarayan in Kedarghati and subsequently caught fire.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took to social media to announce that the State Disaster Response Force, along with other agencies, is actively involved in rescue and relief efforts.

This incident follows a previous helicopter crash on May 8, which occurred while heading to Gangotri Dham in Uttarkashi district, claiming six lives.

Additionally, on June 7, another helicopter bound for Kedarnath had to make an emergency landing on a road shortly after take-off due to a technical issue, injuring the pilot but allowing the five passengers to escape unharmed.

Today's crash comes just days after an Air India flight to London tragically crashed in Ahmedabad, resulting in the loss of 241 lives, including several on the ground.

This story is still developing, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
