Dehradun: A tragic helicopter crash occurred near Uttarkashi on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of five tourists and leaving one person injured.

The accident took place around 9 a.m. close to Gangnani while the private helicopter was en route from Dehradun to Gangotri.

The victims have been identified as Vinit Gupta, Arvind Agarwal, Vipin Agarwal, Pinki Agarwal, Rashmi, and Kishore Jadhav.

Emergency services, including police, Army personnel, and Disaster Management teams, have been dispatched to the crash site near Uttarkashi.

The exact cause of the helicopter crash is still under investigation.

Upon learning of the incident, local residents and police quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue efforts. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Quick Response Teams, and ambulances were promptly deployed.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his sorrow over the loss of life in this tragic event.

He offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and extended condolences to the grieving families.

The Chief Minister has also directed the administration to ensure all necessary assistance is provided to the injured and to conduct a thorough investigation into the crash.

In a message shared on social media platform X, he stated: "I received news of casualties in a helicopter crash near Gangani in Uttarkashi. SDRF and district administration teams have promptly reached the site for rescue operations. May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families during this difficult time. I am in constant communication with officials to monitor the situation closely."
