Devastating Incident at Firecracker Depot


Bhadrak: A tragic incident unfolded as three women lost their lives due to severe burn injuries sustained from an explosion at a firecracker depot located at Haladidiha by-pass in Ward No. 25. The unfortunate event occurred on Saturday.


Rashmita Jena, aged 24, passed away late Friday night, while Sultana Biwi, 40, and Ajifa Biwi, 30, succumbed to their injuries on Saturday morning. All three were receiving treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.


The firecracker depot was engulfed in flames following a significant explosion that took place on Tuesday morning. At least five individuals, including four women and a young boy, suffered critical burn injuries during the incident.


Among the injured, Rahii[1]toon Biwi, 40, and a minor named Sheikh Musaraff also succumbed to their injuries while being treated at the same medical facility on Tuesday evening.
