New Delhi, Aug 17: A devastating fire erupted at a warehouse in Raghubir Nagar, Delhi, early Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of at least two individuals, according to officials.

The fire was reportedly ignited by an explosion involving e-rickshaw batteries stored within the facility.

Delhi Fire Services were alerted to the incident around 4:42 a.m.

As per reports, the explosion of e-rickshaw batteries on the first floor of the warehouse sparked the fire. Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters successfully managed to control the flames.

Further information is pending, and the identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

This incident adds to a troubling trend of fire-related accidents in the National Capital Region.

Earlier this month, a similar tragedy occurred when two firefighters lost their lives and three others sustained injuries due to a wall and an iron beam collapsing during firefighting efforts at an electronics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida.

This incident took place on August 3 at ILGIM Company, located in the Ecotech-3 police station area, which specializes in electronic chip production. Emergency services responded to a significant fire at the site and initiated a comprehensive firefighting operation.

After several hours, firefighters were able to control the blaze. However, during the operation, a side wall of the factory and an iron beam unexpectedly fell, injuring several firefighters.

Five firefighters were hurt and transported to a local hospital for care. Tragically, Fireman Rohit Yadav and Chief Constable Driver Teerathpal Singh later died from their injuries while receiving treatment.

The remaining injured personnel, Chief Constable Driver Rajpal Singh, Fireman Manish Kumar, and Fireman Amit Kumar, are reported to be stable and continue to receive medical attention.
