A devastating fire at a well-known entertainment spot in Bangkok has resulted in the deaths of at least 27 individuals, as reported by local news sources. The incident occurred around 11:57 PM local time on Sunday at Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao, located in the Chatuchak district. Firefighters who responded to the emergency found the establishment fully engulfed in flames. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed the fatalities and noted that several victims were transported to hospitals for treatment.
Initially, emergency responders discovered one person suffering from burn injuries, but further searches revealed that many patrons were trapped inside the bar. Video footage released by Thailand's Fire & Rescue service depicted thick smoke pouring from the venue's entrance as flames quickly spread, causing chaos as people fled to safety. Subsequent images revealed the bar's interior severely damaged, with burnt furniture and debris scattered everywhere. Injured individuals were seen receiving medical assistance outside the establishment. Firefighters from multiple stations, including Phaholyothin, Phaya Thai, and Huai Khwang, worked diligently to control the fire, which took approximately 35 minutes to extinguish. Search and rescue operations are ongoing as teams continue to look for any potential survivors. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the fire's cause.
