In a heartbreaking incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a businessman, his wife, and their teenage daughter reportedly took their own lives by consuming poison due to financial distress. This tragic event was confirmed by a police official on Monday.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vishwajeet Srivastava, the incident occurred in the Ashrafabad area of the Chowk police station jurisdiction.
The police received information early in the morning that 48-year-old Shobhit Rastogi, his 44-year-old wife Shuchita Rastogi, and their 16-year-old daughter Khyati Rastogi had ingested poison.
All three were rushed to the Trauma Center at King George's Medical University, where doctors pronounced them dead. The police indicated that Shobhit was reportedly troubled by bank debts.
Authorities recovered a bottle of sulfide from the scene. Srivastava noted that Khyati was the first to inform her uncle about the situation, but by the time he arrived, it was too late. He added that legal proceedings are underway regarding the case.
