Shocking Incident in Bahraich

Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh): A horrifying incident unfolded as a son brutally attacked his entire family with an axe over a property dispute. This shocking event has sent shockwaves throughout the community.

Details of the Incident In the village of Basantpur Rudal (Majar Ramnagar) within the Rupediha police jurisdiction, a gruesome act occurred around 1:30 AM on the night between Sunday and Monday. The accused, Nirankar Verma (approximately 40 years old), allegedly killed four family members in a fit of rage stemming from a property disagreement. The victims included his father, Badlu Ram (62), mother, Sanju Devi (60), sister, Parvati (20), and grandmother, Sheetala Devi (82).

According to police reports, the family had recently sold some land and jewelry. Nirankar was upset about not receiving his share of the proceeds, which led to a heated argument with his father. As the argument escalated, Nirankar grabbed the axe and struck his father first. When his mother, sister, and grandmother intervened, he did not spare them either, resulting in all four dying on the spot.

Hearing the commotion, Nirankar's elder brother, Gurudev, rushed to help but was also attacked, leaving him severely injured. Local villagers managed to surround Nirankar, who then attempted to harm himself with a brick, but he was rescued.

Police Response The Rupediha police arrived at the scene, took possession of the bodies, and sent them for autopsy. Nirankar has been arrested, and initial investigations suggest that greed over property distribution was the primary motive. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

This tragic event occurred just before Holi, raising serious questions about the sanctity of familial relationships. The community remains in shock, with many expressing that 'the greed for land has turned a home into a graveyard.'
