What began as a joyful celebration for a family returning home from a birthday party turned into a nightmare on National Highway-30 (NH-30). Late at night, as the family from Maihar was happily heading home, they could never have imagined that this journey would be their last. The collision between their speeding SUV and a truck was so severe that the vehicle was reduced to twisted metal, extinguishing the lives of five family members in an instant. Bystanders and rescue workers were left shaken by the scene, where a festive occasion transformed into chaos and mourning within seconds.
Details of the Accident
According to police reports, the tragic event occurred around 1 AM on Monday near the village of Rigra in the Dehat police jurisdiction. The family was returning from a birthday celebration when their SUV collided with a truck from behind. The impact was catastrophic, leaving the vehicle completely wrecked and trapping all six occupants inside. Authorities confirmed that five individuals died at the scene, while one person sustained serious injuries.
Injuries and Victims Identified
The injured individual was initially taken to a civil hospital in Amarpatan for emergency treatment but was later referred to Satna District Hospital due to deteriorating health. The deceased have been identified as Ankur Patel (40), Mridul Patel (32), Vijay Patel (30), Harishankar Patel (25), and Shiva Patel (23).
Community in Mourning
The tragic accident has left the families of the victims in deep sorrow, and a wave of grief has swept through the entire community. All the deceased were reportedly relatives of Manoj Patel, the Vice President of the local Congress party, and were returning from his birthday celebration. The victims are said to be brothers-in-law of Manoj Patel, while the injured individual is also related to local Congress leader Manish Patel.
Previous Incidents
This incident follows another tragic accident on June 25 in the Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh, where a car collided with a truck, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries. This earlier accident occurred around 11 AM when a speeding car crashed into a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near the village of Titarod, leading to the immediate deaths of four individuals and serious injuries to two others.
