Worker Dies After Falling from Height in Gwalior

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, where a worker lost his life after falling from a height of 30 feet during renovation work at the Chhatri complex of the Scindia dynasty, according to police reports.

The deceased has been identified as Ravi Prajapati, aged 35. Following the incident, family members and fellow workers accused the contractor of negligence and failing to provide necessary safety equipment.

Authorities stated that Ravi was working at a height of approximately 30 feet when he slipped and fell, resulting in his immediate death.

Upon learning of the tragedy, the victim's relatives and other workers gathered at the scene, leading to a commotion. The police from Jhansi Road station arrived to manage the situation and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated. The victim's brother, Mohan Prajapati, claimed that the contractor did not provide safety belts or helmets to the workers, nor were the scaffolds used for the renovation adequately secured.

He asserted that negligence led to his brother's death and noted that the contractor fled the scene after the incident. The family is demanding appropriate compensation for their loss.

Shakti Singh, the officer in charge of Jhansi Road police station, mentioned that preliminary investigations indicate that the worker died due to the fall. The allegations made by the family are currently under investigation.

It is noteworthy that the Chhatri complex serves as a memorial for the members of the Scindia dynasty.
