Fatal Incident in Mayurbhanj District


Baripada: In a tragic incident early Saturday morning, a woman lost her life after being trampled by an elephant in a forest near Garagadi village, located within the Jodia panchayat and Bisoi police jurisdiction in Mayurbhanj district. Her one-year-old son narrowly escaped the same fate.


The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Charmi Naik, the wife of Kundia Naik from Kashipentha village. Following the incident, forest officials arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.


Local residents are calling for financial support for Charmi's grieving family.


The unfortunate event unfolded when Charmi visited her parents' home with her son. While attempting to gather toothsticks from the nearby forest, she left her child nearby and ventured deeper into the woods. It was there that she encountered the elephant, which fatally attacked her.


Family members, upon searching for her, found her son crying near the jungle. Tragically, they later discovered Charmi's body in the forest.
