Bhopal/Dhar, May 25: A tragic incident occurred in Semalda village, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, where two out of four friends who went swimming in the Narmada River drowned. The other two friends were rescued safely.


The missing individuals were from Kotputli, Rajasthan, and worked at a local cement company.


Rescue operations involving police, divers, and local boatmen continued into the evening hours.


According to authorities, Pooran (son of Phoolchand Yadav, aged 40) and Dinesh (son of Devkaran Yadav, aged 34) are still unaccounted for, while Manoj Yadav and Naveen Yogi were successfully saved. This unfortunate event took place on Sunday evening.


A collaborative effort between police and local administration is underway to locate the two missing youths.


All four friends were employed at a cement factory in Tonki, near Manawar, and had traveled to Semalda to enjoy a holiday swim in the river.


They entered the river around 5:00 p.m. but drifted into deeper waters, approximately 15 to 20 feet, leading to their distress.


Naveen Yogi, one of the survivors, mentioned that the missing friends held positions as Site In-charges at their workplace.


Local villagers and boatmen quickly responded to the situation, managing to rescue Manoj Yadav and Naveen Yogi, but Pooran and Dinesh remained missing. The Manawar police and administrative teams were alerted and arrived promptly at the scene.


As of 7:30 p.m., divers and villagers continued their search efforts in the deep waters using boats, while a large crowd of villagers and cement company employees gathered at the boat ghat to assist in the operation.
