Bhopal/Dhar, May 25: A tragic incident unfolded in Semalda village, located in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, where two out of four friends drowned while swimming in the Narmada River. The other two friends were rescued safely.
The missing individuals, Pooran (40) and Dinesh (34), both hailing from Kotputli, Rajasthan, were working at a local cement company. Their friends, Manoj Yadav and Naveen Yogi, managed to escape the perilous situation.
Rescue operations, involving police, divers, and local boatmen, continued late into the evening as efforts were made to locate the missing youths.
According to police reports, the four friends, who were originally from Kotputli, had traveled to Semalda for a holiday swim in the river after working at the cement plant in Tonki, near Manawar.
Around 5:00 p.m., they entered the river but soon found themselves in waters that were 15 to 20 feet deep, leading to the unfortunate drowning.
Naveen Yogi, one of the survivors, mentioned that Pooran and Dinesh held positions as Site In-charges at their workplace.
Local villagers and boatmen quickly responded to the emergency, successfully rescuing Manoj and Naveen, but were unable to locate Pooran and Dinesh.
Upon learning of the incident, police and administrative teams from Manawar promptly arrived at the scene.
As of 7:30 p.m., divers and villagers were still actively searching for the two missing friends in the deep waters, with a large crowd of concerned villagers and cement company employees gathering at the boat ghat.
