Drowning Incident in Nirmal District

On Sunday, the Telangana Police reported that five individuals tragically drowned in the Godavari River located in Nirmal district. This unfortunate event took place when the victims entered the river for a holy dip in the temple town of Basar.


The deceased were residents of Chintal in Hyderabad. A group of 18 people from Rajasthan had traveled to Basar for darshan at the Saraswati temple. While enjoying their holy bath, five of them began to struggle in the water, unaware of the river's depth, as noted by an eyewitness. The others remained on the riverbank, calling out for assistance.


Despite the efforts of local residents to rescue them, their attempts were unsuccessful. The river's water levels had risen significantly due to recent rainfall. The bodies of the victims have since been transported to the government hospital in Bhainsa.
