Shocking Incident of Domestic Violence

Greater Noida: A horrifying case of domestic abuse and dowry-related violence has emerged from the Kasna police station area, where a woman was brutally attacked and set ablaze by her husband and in-laws.

The tragic event was witnessed by her young son, who saw his father and grandmother assaulting and ultimately burning his mother.

The victim, identified as Nikki, was reportedly doused with flammable liquid before being ignited, according to her family.

Her son recounted, “They first put something on mumma. Then they slapped her. After this, they set her on fire using a lighter.”

When questioned by reporters, he confirmed that it was indeed his father who was responsible for her death.

The incident came to light late Thursday night when Fortis Hospital notified the police about a woman admitted with severe burn injuries.

Due to her critical state, doctors referred her to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, but she succumbed to her injuries en route.

Nikki's elder sister, Kanchan, claimed that the motive behind the murder was Nikki's inability to meet the in-laws' demand for a dowry of Rs 36 lakh.

Kanchan stated, “We faced constant harassment. They kept insisting that we hadn’t provided enough during the wedding. They demanded Rs 36 lakh from our family.”

She also revealed that she had suffered similar abuse for dowry demands.

Kanchan described her own ordeal, stating, “I was assaulted between 1:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday. They told me, ‘We got dowry for one, what about the other? You are better off dead. We will marry again.’”

She witnessed her sister being burned alive and expressed her anguish, saying, “I tried to save Nikki, but I couldn’t… I want them to suffer the way they made my sister suffer.”

Disturbing footage has surfaced showing Nikki's husband and mother-in-law dragging her by the hair and beating her.

Another video depicts her sitting helplessly on the floor with severe burn injuries. Neighbors rushed her to Fortis Hospital, but she could not survive.

Following Kanchan's complaint, a case has been filed against Nikki's husband, Vipin Bhati, brother-in-law Rohit Bhati, mother-in-law Daya, and father-in-law Satveer.

While her husband has been arrested, the other suspects remain at large.

Additional DCP Greater Noida, Sudhir Kumar, stated, “A case has been registered for murder based on the family's complaint. Nikki was married in 2016, and her family alleges that she was intentionally burned to death by her husband and in-laws.”

He added that two police teams are actively working to locate the remaining suspects.

“One suspect has been apprehended. The others will also be caught soon,” the officer assured.

In the aftermath of the incident, Nikki's family gathered at the police station, demanding swift justice.

Authorities assured them that the case is being prioritized, with both technical evidence and witness testimonies being collected.

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are anticipated.
