Tragic Domestic Violence Incident in Punjab: Woman Assaulted by Husband
Husband's Brutal Assault on Wife During Leave
Marriage is often seen as a significant milestone in life, with many individuals desiring to tie the knot despite knowing the potential regrets that may follow. For some, it is a dream, while for others, it may feel like an obligation. However, not every marriage turns out to be successful. A woman from Punjab has come to view her marriage as a curse after experiencing a horrific incident. Her life took a dark turn when her husband, a soldier, returned home on leave and violently assaulted her.
Nirmal Singh, a resident of Bathinda, Punjab, married Parmjeet Kaur eleven years ago. He frequently returned home on leave, often engaging in arguments with her. However, one night, things escalated dramatically. After consuming a significant amount of alcohol, Nirmal returned home without eating and began to argue with Parmjeet. Their disputes typically revolved around dowry, with Nirmal often taunting her about the dowry her father, Atma Singh, had failed to provide, despite promising to do so later. He threatened her, demanding either the dowry or violence would ensue.
On that fateful night, fueled by alcohol, Nirmal crossed a line and physically assaulted Parmjeet in a manner that was far worse than how one would treat an animal. His pent-up frustration from their eleven years of marriage erupted during this violent episode. He continued to beat her throughout the night, only stopping when he eventually fell asleep. Afterward, Parmjeet managed to call her father and left to stay with him. Her father subsequently filed a police report, leading to Nirmal's arrest. Authorities have confirmed that a case of assault has been registered, and further charges will be determined based on the results of Parmjeet's medical examination.
