Husband's Brutal Attack on His Wife

Nirmal Singh, a resident of Bathinda, Punjab, married Parmjeet Kaur eleven years ago. He frequently returned home on leave, often getting into arguments with her. However, one night took a dark turn. After consuming a significant amount of alcohol, Nirmal returned home and began to fight with Parmjeet without even eating dinner. Their disputes typically revolved around dowry issues, where he would taunt her about the dowry promised by her father, Atma Singh, which he claimed was never fulfilled. He threatened her, demanding either the dowry or violence would ensue.

On that fateful night, fueled by alcohol, he escalated the argument to physical violence, treating her worse than an animal. His pent-up frustration from their eleven years of marriage erupted as he unleashed a brutal assault on her. He continued to beat her throughout the night, only stopping when he eventually fell asleep.

After the ordeal, Parmjeet managed to contact her father and left to stay with him. Her father subsequently filed a police report, leading to Nirmal's arrest. Authorities have confirmed that a case of assault has been registered, and further charges will be determined based on the results of Parmjeet's medical examination, which will reveal any fractures. SSI Gurcharan Singh stated that additional details will be recorded once the victim is able to provide her account.
