Tragic Domestic Dispute: Woman Allegedly Kills Husband in Odisha
Domestic Violence Leads to Fatal Incident
Berhampur: In a shocking incident in Ganjam district, Odisha, a 40-year-old man was reportedly murdered by his 35-year-old wife following a domestic dispute, according to police reports on Wednesday.
The tragic event unfolded on Tuesday night in Gopalpur, within the jurisdiction of the Beguniapada police station.
Authorities discovered the body of Narayan Bhuyan at his residence on Wednesday and subsequently transported it to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy, as stated by a police officer.
The suspect, a mother of two, has been taken into custody, and the tools used in the crime, including an axe and pieces of brick, were confiscated, revealed Purushottampur Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Deepak Kumar Mishra.
Initial investigations indicated that a verbal altercation escalated, leading the woman to push her husband. When he fell in the backyard, she struck his head with a stone.
Following this, she allegedly dragged him inside and attacked him with an axe and bricks, Mishra reported.
While the precise motive for this violent act remains unclear, police speculate that jealousy over her husband's suspicions regarding her fidelity may have played a role.
Authorities are also exploring the possibility of additional individuals being involved in the crime.
"Currently, we have identified the woman as the sole suspect. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the murder and any potential accomplices," the SDPO noted.
A murder case has been filed at the Beguniapada police station after the victim's mother, Nisha Bhuyan, submitted a formal complaint.
The couple had two children: a 15-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son. Due to ongoing marital issues, they had been living apart for several years, with the son residing with his father and the daughter with her mother.
The woman was employed as a daily laborer in Puri, while her husband had recently returned from work in Surat.
