Tragic Domestic Dispute Leads to Double Fatality in Gurugram

In Gurugram, a distressing incident unfolded in the Sector-9 area. According to police reports, a man named Deepak had been harboring suspicions about his wife, Sonam, for some time. He had been monitoring her activities closely. On April 19, upon returning home from Alwar, Rajasthan, Deepak found Sonam engaged in a video call in the kitchen. As soon as she noticed him, she abruptly ended the call.
This triggered a heated argument. When Deepak demanded Sonam's phone, she refused to comply. His existing suspicions escalated into uncontrollable rage, leading him to strangle Sonam with her scarf from behind, resulting in her immediate death.
In a tragic turn of events, after killing his wife, Deepak took his own life by hanging himself. When family members discovered the scene, they alerted the authorities. Upon arrival, police found a horrifying sight: Sonam's body lay on the floor while Deepak was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
During this ordeal, the couple's 10-year-old son was in another room watching television. When questioned later, he mentioned that he had been told by his father to watch TV while they were arguing.
The situation came to light when Sonam's sister attempted to call her but received no answer. Concerned, she sent her 14-year-old daughter to check on them. Upon peeking into the room, the girl screamed at the shocking scene. Subsequently, family members and police were notified.
Investigations revealed that Sonam's phone had been in contact with an unknown number, frequently engaging in calls and video chats. This is believed to have been the catalyst for the fatal dispute.
Both Deepak and Sonam hailed from Alwar, Rajasthan, and had been married for approximately seven years. Initially, their relationship appeared stable, but over time, cracks began to form, culminating in this tragic outcome.
Currently, the police have taken both bodies for post-mortem examinations, and the investigation is ongoing, including a review of phone records and other relevant details.
