Tragic Discovery of Couple's Bodies by Betwa River Raises Questions
Shocking Incident by the Betwa River
A tragic scene unfolded by the Betwa River where the bodies of a young couple were found. The boy and girl were discovered intertwined, with foam around their mouths and bags tied to their feet.
The grim discovery was first made by children playing cricket nearby, who alerted local residents with their screams. Upon hearing the commotion, locals rushed to the scene and subsequently notified the police. Investigating officers found cigarette butts at the site, along with the couple's sandals placed together. Authorities suspect that the pair may have taken poison in a suicide pact due to a romantic relationship.
Initially, police conducted interviews with local residents, who confirmed that the couple did not belong to the area. Following this, the police circulated their photographs, leading to their identification within two hours. Family members arrived at the scene after being informed. They revealed that the couple, identified as Balkishan and Rimjhim, had been missing since Sunday evening.
Rimjhim's brother shared that she was a student in her intermediate year and was the only sister among two brothers. Their father had passed away, leaving them with little information to provide. Meanwhile, Balkishan's father, Kashiram, mentioned that his son was uneducated and worked as a waiter in a hotel. Balkishan was engaged to a girl from the town of Jakhora, and they were preparing for a ceremony the following day. He had left home around 3 PM on Sunday, claiming he was going to listen to a religious discourse, but never returned.
Kashiram further explained that he had four daughters and two sons, with Balkishan being the third child. The two elder sisters were already married, and Balkishan's wedding was imminent. He expressed disbelief over the presence of cigarettes, stating that his son did not consume any substances, not even chewing tobacco. He was unaware of any relationship between his son and the girl, who lived just 100 meters away from their home. The family was busy preparing for the wedding, having already gathered all necessary items.
Neighbors speculated that the couple may have resorted to suicide due to familial disapproval of their relationship. After the post-mortem on Tuesday, the bodies were handed over to their families. Medical professionals indicated that there were no visible signs of injury on either body, suggesting poisoning as the likely cause of death. However, due to the unclear circumstances surrounding their demise, samples have been preserved for further examination.
