Golaghat, June 14: A Class XI student was discovered deceased in a tea garden located in Assam's Golaghat district on Sunday, just a day after his family reported him missing.
The victim has been identified as Achinta Rajkhowa, a first-year student at Furkating Senior Secondary School.
Local residents shared that Achinta had returned home from his hostel three days prior. He was reported missing on Saturday, which led his family to initiate a search for him.
Despite their efforts to locate him in various areas, the family was unsuccessful in finding him.
The situation took a grim turn on Sunday when locals found a body in Makrang Tea Garden, which falls under the jurisdiction of Ghiladhari Police Station, and promptly notified the authorities.
A team from Ghiladhari Police Station arrived at the scene and retrieved the body, which was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination. The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

According to community members, Achinta's mother had spoken to him shortly before he went missing, during which he mentioned being with a friend.
